Forgetting
I shall never share my written word with you
due to the slim chance you'll understand
I don't want you to know the masked pain
hidden in this world of pretend.
I keep my mind distracted
so as not to dwell,
dwell on the thought of remembering,
remembering how hard I fell.
My past reforms in shards
that pierce me like a knife
and with every moment that I forget,
I lose part of my life.
I have forgotten of your skin tone
I have forgotten reason and choice
but the thing that I despise the most,
I have forgotten the sound of your voice.
You many never realize
how everything has changed
but I remember to forget
the day we went our separate ways
