The time came when the Industrial Revolution begins
All these white men will start their sins

They bought me to get cotton
My job will always be rotten

Go out to the fields, fight the extreme heat
Every time I complain I always get beat
Fighting among brothers just to grab a bite to eat

Can't sleep by my pain and soreness
Ask myself why did I have to be in this poorness

My lips crack and beg for a sip
But I pray everyday just to not get whipped

All this suffering for riches
Trying to get something out of it but we only get stitches

Why are they treating us like this
American dream yeah they say life is a bliss

No its not like this, it’s all a hipocracy
What happened with life and democracy?

All my hope is the day where I can be free
Far away from them as my eyes can see

I am treated as a slave
But no one cares about me, they think I belong in a cage.

What inspired me to write this piece was reading an article in World History class about child labor in the Industrial Revolution. After finding out how horrible the child slaves were treated, I decided to write this piece to raise awareness about child labor that is still happening now.
