The Undertaker
I am the undertaker of shattered dreams
I bury the misery from the torn seams
Your broken heart, your rapid demise
The foundation built only upon lies.
Does it surprise you to know who I am?
Armed with nothing more than a battering ram
You’ll break down my doors
To retrieve what is yours
And plunge into me, only to find
That wretched agony was all in your mind
Remnants of whispers, remnants of truth
Take up my shovel, and cry, “Forsooth!”
The raven hovers over my shoulder and cries
Into the night and then he flies
To dissuade you from living in your past
For he knows the longer you linger, the less you last
You must press forward, and fear not the future
Let failures and triumphs alike be your teacher
Mourn in death, and not in life
There is no time for sadness and strife.
I am the undertaker of shattered dreams
I bury the misery from the torn seams
So you can move on and be happy inside
Build a new foundation, fill the divide
Don’t hate me, just accept me for who I am
You’ll find you won’t need a battering ram
The doors are open, come inside
Lay on me all what is on your mind
And be at ease, buried in blankets of fleece
And drift off as I take your dreams and leave you in peace.
