The Wall

The wall hit the Earth with a sudden jolt,
For the Earth was weak,
But the wall was strong.
The Earth had a crack,
For that was how it was created,
But nobody knew, yet everybody did.
The wall was solid,
For it had strong structure,
But nobody noticed, yet they were all thankful.
The people hurried,
For the Earth was only noticed,
But they couldn't see the wall.
The commotion distracted them surely,
For it was simply chaos,
But still, it sat there silently; waiting to be seen.
The Earth was weak,
For the wall was strong,
But a glance was never given.
The structure was meant to be switched,
For it was meant to be opposite,
But the balance was wrong.
The wall would never be noticed,
For they can't see how stable it was,
But yet it was not the Earth so no one seemed to care.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece to metaphorically symbolize how society makes extremities, such as the Earth, so significant, but forgets about the minor details such as the wall. The wall is so much more stable and beautiful, but people are so rushed they don't realize what's around them, except for what's falling apart.
