You were my best friend; my cousin
You watched my back
You protected me from evil
My cousin, tony

You used to take me to the movies; bought me my favorite candy
Sour patch kids; the best
I remember how you use to make fun of my face when I puckered up
How the tears leaped from my face because of the sourness
How if I ate to much sour candy my tongue got sore
I remember when you grew your beard out,
How every time you ate food got stuck in it
And how we would laugh, and laugh, and laugh

Every day you use to call me, asking about my day
I would tell you good; I would tell you the good parts and the bad parts
But one day I did not get a call, but my mom did
She told me how you were in the hospital and was in pain
I prayed, and I hoped you would get better
They were not answered
The next day my mom got another call saying you were gone
I could not believe it
My body was numb, and I did not want to move
At your funeral I did not want to cry; I tried and tried but they burst out
I kept crying for two weeks and could not stop
But eventually I stopped
Tony would not have wanted me to be a crybaby
So I was strong; for tony
And I learned that life just goes on with or without the people dearest to you
But Tony, you was and always will be, my best friend
