The unspoken promise,
Anticipation,
The world slows,
Nothing beyond us exists,
My entire self depends
Upon the look in his eye,
The pressure of his hand on my back,
Our steps gliding together,
As one.
I see nothing,
Except him.

Dance is life,
A pull and push,
Pressure and release,
Sweat and joy.
He pulls me in close,
I look up.

I love watching his face,
As he chooses the steps I will take,
He is in control entirely,
All I must do is follow.
For one moment our eyes meet,
Our faces close,
So close I would have to move only a hairsbreadth
To kiss him.
His face presses into my hair,
My eyelashes brush his cheek,
As I look away.

He pushes me away, I spin.
I am the passive side of life,
He the decisive.
However he instructs me,
I move.

In this dance,
There is a moment,
It could last only a second,
Or stretch through the night.
A magical time,
When we move as if reading each other's thoughts.
He looks at me in surprise, wonder,
My face a reflection of his.
We dance as one person.
This feeling fills me with an uncontainable joy,
When next I spin away,
I look back to him,
Lit up by the joy of the dance.

In dance, everything is perfect.
He and I,
We are deeply in love.
A perfect love with no shadows,
As our love lives only on the dance floor--
Nothing more.
We dance as one,
And we are the truest of lovers;
Enchanted by the moment.
