A dehydrated rosebush
Thorns forever pressing within
destroying all positive thoughts
Petals pale and lifeless
falling to the soil in failure
Roots detach from the Earth
laying shriveled and alone
The stem weakens
bending all thoughts about oneself


The author's comments:
We had to write a poem about ambition. It could either be about having it or losing it and so I decided to compare it to a rosebush. It is about losing ambition and losing yourself because of it.
