Hello? Is there anybody out there?
I'm lost, really lost, and there's no one to guide me.
All the times you were lost at the supermarket,
All the times you cried, because you had no idea what to do.
Except, there's always an end to being lost like that.
I've been sitting here for who knows how long.
Just sitting,
Waiting,
But nothing ever happens.
Nothing.
There's no tension, no rising action,
The life of a goldfish is more interesting.
You'd think it'd be nice, having no conflicts,
Or living life care-free, without strain or pressure,
But it's not.
There's no life in it.
I've walked through the dark plains,
It feels like forever, but that couldn't be.
I wanted to stop, but I couldn't.
I shed tears that dripped down my face.
I couldn't stop.


It then when the itching began.
A horrible deep-rooted irritation,
One you would try to claw at constantly,
But you couldn't get rid of it.
For a time it was bearable,
It was isolated.
Afraid to venture from the rashes
That marred my skin.
Out of the blue, the infection spread.
All over my body.
It wouldn't stop, even if I tore up my skin.
The blisters were large,
The swelling overwhelming.
I screamed and thrashed, but to no avail.
The infection would not stop,
And I could do nothing.

At first, it was fine.
I found balance and peace,
I could bear the pain.
My temperature fluctuated,
But I could survive, barely.
The disease only affected my skin.
Not for long.

The rash grew stronger,
It grew smarter.
It clawed its way deep inside me,
Taking my blood,
Taking my life.
It continued to grow smarter,
And I, I continued to die.


This is my story, of someone left alone.
A terrible disease took me,
And I am only barely alive,
But for how much longer?
My name is Earth, and I don't have much longer.
