The smell of thick smoke
Lingers oppressively in the air.
Charred memories rest
Upon the weakened floor.

The whistle of wind among
Diminishing walls
Sends chills up your spine.
Darkness hides in every corner.

Cobwebs and debris
Line the fractured floorboards,
A thin blanket
Hiding a forgotten past

With a deep sigh,
You turn and leave
Your past behind you.
