pat-scratch
round and round
I take flight.

pat-scratch
pat-scratch
ever faster
ever farther.

pat-scratch
pat-scratch
running,
running to leave behind
the monsters chasing me.

pat-scratch

ever longer
evermore.

fleeing from my greatest fear
...
my past, my memories
afraid of who I might have become.

The author's comments:
the inspiration for this poem came from the track at my school. I was thinking of how I really enjoy running because it feels good to run. And when I run i don't think of anything, and if I go fast enough, I even feel like I'm almost flying.
