Hey Rose
Hey rose, where did you get that red?
I tried to be blue, but I couldn’t hold onto the sky.
I tried to be green, but it didn’t fit me.
I tried to be gold, but sparkly dust doesn’t stick to me.
I tried to be white, but thorns are too sharp to be clouds.
I tried to be black, but I couldn’t find anything to copy.
I’ve fallen from the sky, been chased from the trees, risen from the ashes, stuck my head in the clouds, and gotten lost in the dark that was never completely without a star.
I’ve done all that and more on the way to here.
My red is mine, and mine alone.
My red my blood my tears my heart my hope.
Mine.
