Run Like The Wind
Houses
Trees
Cars
Pass by in a blur
As I run, nothing gets in my way
Sweat trickles down my salty face
As I pump my arms and stride my legs
Across the busy street
My mind is universes away
Not caring about my math test tomorrow,
Or thinking about my sick old, Grandpa
Only one goal is in mind
As I wave to the couple walking by I think,
Think about how it will feel
When I hold my shiny, gold trophy
And smile as I wave to MY adoring fans
Everyone has their own sport
Basketball, soccer, swimming,
But this,
THIS IS MY sport
And they can't take it away from me
By doing so they would be taking away ME
They may beat me now
But now for long
Because soon I will be first
As my eyes come back into focus
I see the cars
Trees
Houses
I think,
The future,
My goal,
Isn't as far away as it seems
