I, too have dreams.
I have lived on Crow's land.
Walked through alleys, full
of hatred and evil.
But I smile,
and pretend
that life isn't as hard
as it can be.

I speak the language of my ancestors.
Hay una luz en la oscuridad.
Esperanza.
There is a light in the darkness.
Hope.

I will succeed, breaking away
from expectations.
Ask me, and you will know me.

In one of my classes we were given a poem called "I, Too" and asked to write our own version of the piece.
