Pain engulfs my every being,
Yet still I cannot show the world:
How it feels to be me.
Outside everyone sees me smile-
I laugh because it helps me cope.
My happiness you see is a false image,
Something I wish I would feel inside.
Through the deaths, neglect, and depression-
I smile and laugh like nothing is wrong.
Even when all hope is lost,
I continue moving forward-
Knowing my friends and family want me happy.
They know I want to give up and cry.
Continuing on is difficult,
It would be easier to just not try.
Moving on and forgetting the reasons I cry-
Not possible.

The author's comments:
My life has been filled with moments I wish I had never had to live through, but maybe those moments have made me stronger. When I feel like giving up, I know others would hate it if I did, so I don't. Never give up - you don't have to forget why you want to - let it make you stronger instead.
