Amidst the unwavering admiration,
Sounding bugles permeate the somber ambience,
Endowed with an insurmountable debt,
His country asked him to cash an unthinkable check,
The once brave, once valiant, once selfless hero,
Reduced to a faint shimmer,
Draped by the magnificent colors,
The melancholy mahogany lowers toward infinity,
A son, a brother, a father,
Sacrificed for you and for me,
So listen here my friend, my brother,
Freedom isn’t free.
