"A person's life purpose is nothing more than to rediscover, through the detours of art or love or passionate work, those one or two images in the presence of which his heart first opened."
— Albert Camus

I tried once

Open, lids, open.
Tried running

Don’t let the salt fall in love with your lashes.
In the rain like,
I used to
Relish the drops
Melting on my cheeks
Daddy! Daddy!
Watch me!
Get all blurry-eyed
Little fingers
Wiping away the wet
Did you know
That the rain and my lashes are in love?
He clutches at her ashes,
Waiting for the wind to take him too.
Till death
Do us part
Well, Lashes are already dead
And the rain’s gonna leave us too.
I tried once.
Tried to remember
My head was talking to my lids.
Telling them to close.
I was under
A watering can
I felt Your hand
Grab mine
The heat against the cold
My hand told yours
To never let go
Ice showers still
They took you away.
Ice fever, manmade
Flew through your red,
Your dark Crimson red.
They tried to help.
They made you sleepy.
I wondered what you dreamt
On those picket white sheets.
I wondered when I was
shrouded in black.
