Why didn’t you tell me
That today would be the day
That everything precious
Would be taken away?

Why didn’t you tell me
That that dance would be our last?
That charmed night on the beach.
It went by so fast.

Why didn’t you tell me
That you would be gone by morning?
Leaving me all alone
For your presence, I was in mourning.

Why didn’t you tell me
That I’d never see you again?
And that the pieces of my heart
Would be so difficult to mend?
