Indelible Act
A piece here.
 A piece there.
 Painstakingly,
 The tragic mess is gathered.
 Jagged edges pinprick
 At tender fingertips,
 A small price to pay
 For the possibility of
 Another restoration.

 Remnants of congealed glue cling
 To battered corners.
 Shattered
 Bits pressed together,
 Yet nothing seems to match.
 Fruitless attempts to fix something
 That can never be unbroken.
 Thousands of pieces unwilling
 To form a whole.

 Abandoned,
 Cracked and broken,
 A heavy heart lies
 Scattered across the ground.
 Hollowed memories-
 Desecrated.
