Just because I'm black
doesn't mean that I can rap.
I don't wear my pants down to my ankles
or a ostentatious chain around my neck.
Just because I'm black
doesn't mean that I like fried chicken.
I am not just a pigment of skin.
I have feelings and I will rise above the preset standards.
Who am I?
I am...
a son
a friend
a mentor

I am...
a writer
a musician
a dreamer
a believer

I am...
shy
fun-loving
genuine

I AM ME
and that is alll that I want to be
