Carved Out of the Earth
There is a place I live
 of treacherous valleys,
 shallow but poisonous waters,
 the Devil himself
 carved out of the Earth.

 Nurturing fiends
 like you would not believe,
who look of a hideous death
 and live
 and kill
 to deceive.

 My eyes lit,
 hands locked,
 lips laced
 with addiction,
 with obsession.

 And so I live,
 not free.
 But oh,
 what a fool
 I can be.

 Down here
 you learn not to fear
 but to become the wicked
 like a callow child
 so easily beguiled.
