She’s fragile,
 so be careful.
 She’s been broken,
 but fixed.
 It will happen again,
 but she’s
 scared.

 She is lost.

her heart like a cardboard box
 folded over and
 stepped on.
 She had moments that lasted
 forever
like the Sharpie ink used to graffiti her heart,
 still written on the inside.
  “her + him”
 as permanent as scars.

Still the thoughts of “what if’s”
 crowd the small space.
Without a care, he picks the box up and throws it.
 She crashes and loses herself.
She wants to forget him but she
 can’t.

There’s no more space for the hurt,
 so she opens the box
 and escapes.
 She’s in a new place,
but a place she’s been before
 without him.

 She is found.

 She recycles the box,
 and sets her mind
 free.
