You Don’t Own Me
I am not yours for the picking
I am not food to be devoured
 You can’t buy me flowers

 and think I’m yours forever

I am not a doll to be played with
I am not a slave to be bought
You cannot feed me your sweet lines

and expect me to fall at your feet

I am the wine that is savored
I am the golden sun when it sets
 Your pity tokens will not

 buy my affections

I am a perfect puddle on a rainy day
I am the minute school ends
You do not own me so

 don’t pretend like you do.
