Coins in the gutter
Remind me of you
And me too.
Rusty from the rain
Gauged by a car
A penny won’t
Go very far.
Years ago,
We had shine.
But polished new mint
Is better than grime
Like mine.
You try to clean
The damage away
And maybe we’ll
Be worth something
Someday.
