Summer's Child
The cold wintry air
 churns deep in his heart
 as he huddles beneath
 rags. He used to have
 a face,
 a face to smile at,
 a face to kiss,
 a face to love.
 Now he's no one.
 Now he has no one.

 Winter has frozen
 the tear tracks on
 his dirty face, the permanent
 mark of a
 loner.

 The cold instills itself
 within his heart.
 It makes him tremble,
 but he's strong.
 Where did the warmth go?
 It used to be here.
 There once was
 laughter and
 sunshine
 and happiness,
 but the wind
 carried it all
 far, far away.

 A faceless, freezing boy
 in a cold-hearted world.

 The summer is gone.

 Summer's child remains.

So many dirty people with no hope calling out from the street. Maybe some day, their light will come back.
