To some
Love is
Family
But not I
Love is
Finally landing a fist
On your older brother
To some
Love is
Your prom date
But not I
Love is
Learning your crush
Loved you since Kindergarten
To some
Love is
Giving
But not I
Love is
Seeing your mother’s expression when
She realizes you bought her an electric can opener
For Christmas
To some
Love is
Your dog
But not I
Love is
Watching your dog wade through thick black mud
To get to you
To some
Love is
Friends
But not I
Love is
Being given a gift for your birthday
Despite telling them not to bother
To some
Love is
Incomprehensible, complicated, impossible
But not I
Love is
Love, simply

Interesting. I like the short lines that give way to more detailed elaborations on the particulars of love to you. It gives the poem a very real, personal feeling.

This poem is really good!! It truely explains what some people may think of love but then by adding your input, you make it even more realatable. I'm still trying to figure out what love is myself, and I am glad that you found it yourself, even if it was for an essay. Keep writing!!
