Foot From Death
A foot from death
An edge that comes to a halting stop
My feet take one step closer
While I stare to the sands below

 It is that sand
 Not the fall
Not the wind rushing past me
But the sand that could kill

 Small, grainy pieces of memories
Memories I can no longer face
Faces I can no longer place
 And this spot

 This spot
This secret overworld of lovely views
 That leads me to be
 One foot from death

 I take a deep breath
Then a step forward just to feel the rush
 Then I back away
Back into the weird collections of the past and future
 The collection we call life
