Don't be a victim; be a titan.

We both sat in the fields that day,
And watched the trees slowly burn.
All was quiet; a silent scream,
More powerful than any word.
A clenching sensation seized my throat.
Gripping pain pumped through my veins.
The fire will stop – eventually,
But nothing can ever be the same.

Disasters like this are rare and few,
A once-in-a-life time thing.
So why in the name of Mother Earth
Is this happening again to me?
She couldn’t remember anymore,
At least that’s what she said,
But a promise like that can’t be forgotten,
Not until you’re finally dead.

I always remember you telling me
That I should never fear death.
So why was it a choking sob
That claimed your departing breath?
Lies like that make a person a skeptic,
Such a frightening thing to be.
But how can I ever believe anyone
If everyone keeps lying to me?

life had i loved the more
had it but passed away
as quietly as the day
ebbs from the darkening star.
