Broken Melodies
An ivory piano perches on the stage
 Silently breathing broken melodies,
Telling stories of heartbreak, love, and age,
Broken dreams and songs written down into these

Words etched so carefully onto its dark skin
Names in hearts, love drunk lyrics safely bound,
Sunken down into its pores, breathed deep within,
 Images of kisses swirling around

Ebony keys layered on top of the white,
They have been played on since so long ago,
Holding themselves up has become a near fight,
Been played on so long that you couldn’t know

All the places been, all the stories been told,
Emotions, notes and lyrics to obey
Never alone, this piano that’s so old,
And on these eerie keys, I start to play.
