It weeps in silence
No tears flow from it’s branches
Which dangle awkwardly
Reaching for something
That it will never touch
Its leaves fall in the fall
Fleeing from the cold
It shivers in the winter
Standing all alone
In the spring it is home
To new leaves which will blossom
Only to run away again
In that cursed season of fall
I now know why it weeps
It weeps because it is alone
It is alone in the world
Without a place to call home
Only to die in silence
Only to die alone
Poor weeping willow
Weeping for its broken soul
