The Poetry Peddler
Dear friends and neighbors,
 I am the Poetry Peddler!
For I sell my poems and words
to those who love to think and learn,
and these special words, I’ll give you a peek,
for only a nickel or dime a piece.
For I am both a buyer and seller,
friends, I am the Poetry Peddler!

 I am the Poetry Peddler,
and I’d like you to know,
 (as far as words go)
 my wares are far better
 than those of:
 the Story Sellers,
 the Song Seamstress,
 the Tale Tellers,
and the Lute-Playing Lady of Love.
Oh, if I were to guess,
I’d say mine are the best,
for I am the Poetry Peddler!

 I am the Poetry Peddler,
and I’d like you to know,
 (as far as words go)
 my wares are far better
 than those of:
 the Riches Readers,
 the Book Businessmen,
 the Nightingale’s Newspapers,
and the Lute-Playing Lady of Love.

Dear friends, I tell you again,
 I am the Poetry Peddler!
 I offer the best,
 never any less,
I tell you, my poems, they’ll go.
 So…
 Any takers? Or Buyers?
 Anyone? No…?
 Because, I suppose,
They prefer their songs, stories, and tales,
their books, and riches, and nightingales,
and their Lute-Playing Lady of Love.
Oh, it is a very sad day because,
 I certainly know,
 every town I go,
There will be no takers, or buyers, or sellers,
for your dear friend, the Poetry Peddler.
