Reflection
Once upon a time
 I was like you
 Ignorant
 Of everything important
 Thrown off guard
 By any ripple
 Rocked
 By the gentlest of winds

 Frightened
 When exposed to a soul
 Too much trepidation
 To even test the water
 Preferring
 To be blind
Seeing a body in the mirror

 Now though
 In front of a mirror
 Memories trickle
 Varying colors paint
 Dreams weave across
 The revealed image

 No longer
 Can I see a person
 And not feel their pain
 Their suffering
 And pray that one day
 A smile
 Will replace a frown
 That laughter
 Will come quicker
 Than tears

 I challenge you
 To look into a mirror
 Peer deep
 And I promise
You'll find a little of em
 In your reflection
 Just as I
 Find a little of you
 In mine

 I wish though
 When you see your reflection
 Nothing
 Would be shrouded in darkness
 But we're humans
 Not meant
 To ever live
 Happily ever after
