The Rain
Have you ever stood outside
 In the pouring rain
 Looked at the sky
 The woods
 The world
 And smiled
 Not because of anything
 Definite
 But because
 Of everything

 Have you ever felt
 Each drop
 Hit your head
 Your hand
 Your world
 Pitter-pattering
 With the rhythm
 Of hope

 Have you ever seen
 The droplets
 Cling to the tips
 Of your eyelashes
 Glistening
 In the light
 That somehow penetrates
 The clouds

 Have you ever thought
 That the raindrops were tears
 Of sadness
 And hope
 That the world was crying
 Around you
 And maybe your problems
 Are small
 Don’t really matter

 Have you ever been thankful
 Of the rain
 Because maybe
 It helped you fit in
 Helped you realize
 You do belong
 In this crazy
 Messed up
 Amazing world
 If the world can cry
 Then so can you

 Have you ever heard
 The music of the rain
 And thought
 It was perfection
 Thought maybe
 Your silence
 Was the harmony
 That was always missing
 And maybe
 Because you live
 And breathe
 And love
 That this music
 Lives
 Is deeply
 Intertwined
 Into your
 soul
