Goodbye

A daisy.
That kisses the sun.
Licks its nectar,
Drinks its rays.
A bumblebee who feasts on its pollen,
As it sways to the Breeze’s Lullaby
Singing,
“Hello world, Hello.”

A tulip,
Grown from tears,
That were trapped in a glass bottle
and tied with a purple ribbon.
Then poured into that green watering can,
which has sat on the porch,
Fading in the sun,
Since before I knew how to cry.

The liquid memories,
Seep through the soil.
A day ending.
The sun saying its goodbye
in a language of colors.
Boisterous oranges and forgiving pinks.
The gleam of the city lights,
which twinkle and wink,
in a flirty adieu.
And the dance of the water
as it performs its finale,
Whispering nighty-night in smooth ballet.

I,
Who gave the flower tears
to bring it to this world.
So it could sing, and
drink the sun and lick the wind.
With crumpled limbs,
I grasp it tight.
Allow it to breathe a final time,
Before we are gone
Singing,
“Goodbye world, goodbye.”

"Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish." - John Jakes

So, here's the thing. That was GORGEOUS. I've always loved your poetry, but that was even more lyrical than usual (which is saying something). It was meaningful. It meant SO MUCH to me, touched me even though I didn't know where it was coming from, or what YOU meant by it. And I think that THAT'S the point of poetry. To help other feel what you feel, to understand something even if they don't know what it is, through the written word. You figured it out. I'm proud of you. Love, Hannah

Awesome work, Stina! You are such a great writer. So deep! I love you to the moon and back, my sister!
