A Poem of Poems

Poems should create
Either a picture
Like
Blue sky and clouds float by
And little birds sing as they fly
And I
Sitting on the moss of the ground
Watch in wonder at the sound
The beating of wings
My heart pounds
To see them up in the sky
Where clouds float by
The birds, I watch them fly

Or a sound
Like
The gentle crash of waves
Sweeping up the shore
And back down again
The caress of them
The pounding
Gentle beating
My mother's heart
As she holds me close

A texture, a touch
The morning ground is cold
On bare feet
My white dress of cotton
Brushing my legs
I run to the garden
To see June's first greeting
The first rose
Its petals delicate like
Velvet on my skin
A kiss of sweet beauty
Or an emotion, a feeling

Just a touch on my shoulder
All I could wish for
The gentle pressure of a loving hand
Holding me close
My heart beats a little faster
The sunset glows in the sky
Just you and I
We stand so near each other
I don't need a kiss
Just the presence of you
And the heat rises in my cheeks
Is this love?

And this is a poem
