I am virtual
I sleep half awake
 Ears open for a beep
 Signalling a new message
 Was received

 In a parallel world
 Ruled by satellites
I sing out of tune and
 Laugh silently to a joke
 Without hand gestures
 Or facial exclamations

 I don't weep tears,
I weep words that can't replace them
 But they do

 I kiss and I whisper
 Love words to a picture,
A 2D version of the man
 With whom I share
 A bed too cold

 I devour the buffet
 In a blinking hotel advert
 And pause for lunch
 When time permits

 And the Carribean is already
 A paradise too far
The saturated blue of its sky
And the tint of green of its water
 Are colors too perfect

My touch is a mouse click
 My look is perpetual
 My mood can't be read
 Through emoticons
 And my voice is...
The light beating of the keyboard buttons?

 I am virtual -
And although I have not seen you
 In the physical external world
I know who you think you are
 Or say you are
Because I know you are virtual too.
