When Friendship Dies...
She sits on her bed
 Her pillow wet with tears
 Remnants of pictures scattered everywhere
The memories she never wanted to remember
But for some reason could never forget
 She took out the box
She hid in the darkest corner of her closet
 The items she found
 Flew across the room
Breaking everything that lied in their path
Just as he broke her heart
She looks down at the pictures
 They’re not even of him
 But she sees him everywhere
 She looks at her sweatshirt
The one he gave her in the rain
 Way back in freshman year
She walks over to the garbage
 Holds them over it
 She falls to the floor
 Crying
 She can’t do it
She can’t get rid of these things
 They are her
She hated that her tears made sense
She could never get rid of the memories
No matter how many pictures she tore to bits
He’ll always have a piece of her heart
 She’ll never get it back
 He’ll always be there
 In that empty space
Because when she looks back on these years
 She’ll smile
No matter how many times he hurt her
No matter how many times she cried
He was still her best friend
Even though he let their friendship die
