You say that you would never leave
me, abandon me. And when times are
tough you promised me that you would
see me through it. You promised you would
always be there when I needed you the most.
you promised me everything.

God, I feel like you’ve broken that promise
to me. Because in the darkest of hours, I felt
like you abandoned me. Because you weren’t
by my side when “pa” died of cancer.
You weren’t there to catch the tears that
fell from my eyes. You didn’t listen when
I talked to you late at night. God,
you broke your promise to me. God,
you abandoned me when I needed you the most.
And if I can’t believe in you, than I don’t
know what I can believe in anymore.

God I feel like you’ve broken your
promise to me. Because for every step
I take alone is backwards. I wish you
would take two steps forward with me.
I wish you would let me hear you laughing
in the rain, I wish I could see your smile, and
see your face. Because when the cold, hard
darkness starts to creep through my veins,
I need to know that you are there for me.
Ready to catch me when I jump and fall.
Because in times like these you are
the only thing that gives me hope.

So God,
I guess I’m asking you to help me along
this long difficult, path that is called life. Help
me understand right and wrong. And give
me the strength to refuse to give in. Push me
to my limits because that’s what I need. But
most importantly let me know each and every
day that you are by my side, taking two steps
forward instead of taking one step back.

You say that you would never leave
me, abandon me, so don’t. And when times are
tough you promised me that you would
see me through it. You promised you would
always be there when I needed you the most,
so be there for me. So don’t break your promise
this time.
