Her Turn to Lead
The velvet twilight rolls
in like the ocean tide,
filling the world with blues, reds, pinks, and oranges-
a water color painting
in the sky.
The patient moon peeks over the horizon,
waiting for her turn to rise.
The sky sheds tears of cold rain,
mourning the loss of luscious light,
while an evening breeze ruffles the grass
and entices golden leaves into an intricate dance.
The glowing moon watches over her earth,
still waiting for her turn to rise.
The crickets create a symphony,
and owls call to their friends,
drowning out the deafening sounds
of silence.
The majestic moon ascends into the sky,
no longer will she wait to rise.
She is ready to lead her starlit subjects
into the dance of the night.
