Swings of Hope
I swing back and forth
my hair flowing in the wind

I reach the tips of my toes
 up and up
 trying to reach the branch
 of the old pine tree
just like when I was little

 My legs are longer now
 and it's much easier
 to reach the tree

But the thrill once you touch
 that branch is the same

 I sing and hum songs
 softly to myself

 I smile enjoying
 the peace and tranquility
 of the now abandoned park

 I slow just a little
 and leap off the swings

 I land on my feet
 but remember all too quickly
 the cuts on my knees
 from many unsuccessful landings

 As I walk home
  I can't get over
the feeling of new found hope
that fills me and carries me away
 on a soft fluffy cloud
 while I try to catch
 a glimpse of heaven
