Too much in Pakistan
Hands reach out for food
 too many hands
 not enough food
 they fight
 they struggle
 stronger over weak
but there will never be enough
 food
too many people saw their lives swept away
 a river of
farmers, school teachers and modest shopkeepers
 too many and too much
too many people line the roads
 desperate to leave Pakistan
 they have nothing there now
too many people with too few ties

 Then there are the orphans
 too many alone all alone
 who were the lucky ones
 when the flood came
 that drowned them all
 they lived
now their eyes are big enough
 to make many feel guilt
they are all alone in the world
and it only took a couple of seconds
 too many orphans
 with too many people
 too poor themselves
 too hungry
 too thirsty
 to care

 Too many things in Pakistan
too many tears cried by too many
 adding to the flood
 we can cry for them
maybe we can open our hearts
 and give too much
