I sit by the street,
watching as cars race by.
No one takes notice
of one girl,
sitting and writing.

The wind blows around me,
the car horns screech.
There is no such thing as quiet,
silence,
in this world.

Music blares
from somewhere across the street.
Trailors rattle
as they roll past.
Where can I find
the peace I need?

All I want is peace and quiet.

The author's comments:
I've been writing poetry for a long time, and I'm always looking for inspiration. When I came up for the idea, I was working on a piece for a writing class and it was loud and hard to concentrate. I was getting really frustrated, and what happens when I get frustrated? I write; and thus, "Peace and Quiet" was born.
