Nightmare

I thought you were different,
but now I'm not sure why.
I guess it was a dream-
or maybe just wishful thinking.
I believed your lies,
wishing they were true.
Does that make me a fool?
Should I have known better
than to listen to you?
I'm not so naive-
at least, I don't think.
So I guess was just easier
to live in a dream.
Or, more accurately,
a nightmare, as it seems to have become.
