When it comes to matters of the heart,
One can never be too careful.
When your word, and only your word alone,
Can send me straight to heaven or hell,
I’ll advise you;
Please be careful.

When it comes to matters of the heart,
Intent isn’t worth the time.
And you’d drop it all on a dime,
I know,
To tell me to just be careful.

When it comes to matters of the heart,
There is no concrete answer.
Vague notions and lovers who can’t speak words,
Worth listening to; making no sense,
That’s all you’re left with in the end.

When it comes to matters of the heart,
No one plays fair.
Not that I’d care,
Or that I’d dare,
To tell you that I loved you.

The author's comments:
Has anyone here ever been in love? I'm not saying I have, but when you really like someone, I have to tell you that that person become pretty influential in your life. This poem describes what was going through my head, in some ways, both the good and the bad, as I fought my way through having a crush.
