Run child run,
away from the burnt out sun
that casts shadows on your face
and your hopeless soul
Run girl run,
away from the blood and genetics
that do not determine
your own fate
Run friend run,
away from that smile
that exists no more
but will one day soon
Run daughter run.
away from bruiser, the pain, the torture
of the man you call your father
Run towards the heavens you praise,
the friends who hold,
the lover you cherish,
For they are the family
that will make you rise like a phoenix
instead of fall like a dead, red leaf
