Those Days Are Over
I remember the time,
When you taught me how to fish.
My first shooting star,
You were there when I made my wish.
I wished for a puppy,
How silly it seems now.
When I should have wished for a way,
For you to stay somehow.
But now those days are over.
They’re gone and for a while have been.
But I still wish for one more day,
To be with you again.
The good lord took you,
His mind was made.
But I wish for a little longer,
You could have stayed.
An inkling of a warning,
That you were leaving fast.
I would have tried harder,
To make the time last.
But now those days are over.
I have to let it go.
Because you would not want me,
To spend my life in woe.
