If the Philosopher is Wrong
If the philosopher is wrong
 that all we are,
and all the earth around us
 is completely real,

 even if that means
that everything is what it is
 just waiting to die,

that the sun, that the grass
 are all mortal,
 and the mountains and sky
 will eventually crumble,

 that everything is different
 in good or bad ways,
all is dead or alive or somewhere in between,
like being alive is death and death is life,
then you too are real and dead.

 Which last night and
 the night before that,
 you were alive.
