There it is, in my closet,
Waiting to be worn.
It’s red with sparkles, red with sequins
Though it’s unused, the lace is torn.

I remember when I bought the dress,
With a red that proudly glitters
To match his sparkling smile
That would give anyone fabulous jitters.

Red with bows, red with ruffles
Aging in my armoire.
I push it back so I won’t see
The scar of a fleeing fantasy.
