This is the last poem I'll ever write for you
We leave nothing for each other but scars
and shattered memories of love now lost.
Sweet memories are clouded with black.
A heavy fog seeping into my mind to erase you
 one final time.

We leave nothing for each other but old poems
that have abandoned any trace of meaning.
Words that once meant the world now seem hollow.

We leave nothing for each other but stuffed animals
which eventually, the courage will be brought to throw them out
or give them to poor children who will never understand
what those material possesions ever stood for.

We leave nothing for each other,
not even a reminiscent love story to tell our children.
You won't recall my face or name, but only the lesson
that love is never worth the pain of it ending.

We leave nothing for each other.
