The rubber plate below him
he digs his foot into the dirt
a drop of sweat slide off his nose...
Clutching his bat, he starts his swing
aiming for the ball...
The bat swings around,
as his arms start to shrink
his skin pulls tight and dries
red strings stitch themselves across his chest
Crack...
the bat makes contact
he is high...
high above the field
soaring like a bird
gliding towards the crowd,
just a simple baseball, falling...
