Snowflake Dance
The first snowflake falls soundlessly down.
On my cheek it lands and melts away
But not before I can catch its twinkling smile
 It’s like a raindrop
 Only colder and steadier
 But equally as eternal

I look up and see more falling
 Slowly and gracefully
 And so fragile-
 the wind whirls them around
 With its harsh wintry breath

And it looks as if they’re dancing
 Rejoicing in their last dance
Before they touch the ground and melt away
They twirl and twinkle in the sun
 Smiling at me
And asking me to join them
 In their delicate waltz
And listen to their mellifluous song
And feel the joy of life
 Flowing through my veins
 As gracefully beautiful
 As the snowflake dance.
